Good question;

It will be held on 5 adjoining ranges on North Fort Sill, about 2 miles north of Geronimo's grave site.

"Since Fort Sill is a Federal Military Installation there are a few unique requirements to come on post and compete. Its all very easy and will be a stress free process and will all be done prior to your arrival at Ft. Sill."

Could you elaborate on the "unique requirements?"

Oklahoma drivers license won't work as an ID.

I'm guessing you'll have to go to the visitor control center at Bentley gate and get a temporary pass, or they'll have you fill out paperwork before hand for you to hand them at the gate. Key east isn't that busy, so they might just have you pull in there.

Your all correct.

What we will do is once you are registered March 15th, I will post the instructions in the "match book".

In order to get access to Ft. Sill you have to get a visitors pass which includes a quick name check, similar to when you buy a firearm.

What the Garrison Commander has authorized for this event is that we post a mailing address for you to mail or email your one page pass application to so we can do it in advance.

We will complete the paperwork here and email you when complete.

Friday the 16th from 1200 - 1800 (early arrivals and stage walkthrough) or Saturday the 17th from 0600 - 0830 (shooters brief at 0800 match starts at 0830), we will have all shooters come through Key Gate West (exit 41) off highway I-44 and you will receive a welcome bag with your pass, instructions to the range, we will have a single lane identified specifically for match attendees so there should be little to no delay for you at the gate.

Jesse is correct, the "real ID act" is a federal law passed that made every state be required to produce their ID's to a certain standard and Oklahoma is one of the states that hasn't updated their ID yet, but we have an exception and can accept the Oklahoma ID, if anything changes before the match we have a long list of alternative ID types you can use in place of the Oklahoma ID.

It will take less than 5 minutes for you to fill out your paper then send to me to get put on file.

It is all streamlined to make our match a fun and exciting day without any delays or distractions.

Since our match is on a Military Base we have to operate differently than a private range.

Short answer is that I (Mr. Moon) am the outreach officer and match coordinator and any questions you have please feel free to contact me. We have a team rather than Defining a single match director.

Behind the scenes there are many agencies on post that are key and essential to making this match happen; our range control and construction branch, our MWR (marketing a special events) branch, our Legal branch, and our Emergency services branch to name a few, all have a hand in making this match high class and flawless with final approvals and decision made by the Garrison Commander.

Stages will not be posted prior to registration day.

We will be working on stage design and construction until mid May and a few weeks prior to the match we will post the stages and round count.

Hints and pics will be posted throughout this process.

Thank you for the questions.

We had some questions on the other forum so I figured I'd post here also.

The event is getting better and better by the day and this will be a first class event.

We believe you can have a Major match that doesn't take two days, doesn't cost almost $300 and doesn't have over 250 shooters, we want to have a match that is appreciated and respected by the competitors.

We will be having a one day match with 5 stages.

These are big stages on wide open Ft. Sill Ranges with a good amount of "shooting and moving". Anything from close up paper to 500 yard automated knock down steel.

The main match day is Saturday the 17th but we will have some openings for shooters on Friday the 16th as well walkthroughs on Friday.

We are able to keep the entry fee low because we don't have an overhead of equipment to buy, Ft. Sill is set up with great range space and plenty of equipment that we are setting up especially for a 3 gun match.

This will be a full day of VIP treatment at a great price, starting with a catered sit down breakfast at the range, a full 8 hour day of shooting and the final award ceremony / door prize drawings to be held at the Jack Daniels Club and restaurant down the street from the ranges. There will be food vendors at the ranges for lunch sales as well as Army equipment displays.

We will be posting information on Hotel deals in the area in the next week.

Thanks again.

We had a question about our Championship compared to the Ft. Benning match on another post, so I wanted to answer it here also.

We won't have any parachute dismounts, low crawls or tunnels this year.

We will have obstacles, various shooting platforms and great scenarios with impressive target arrays that will test everyone's shooting abilities equally. Our expansive, wide open ranges give us the "blank slate" to develop big, straight forward stages that will meet Major shooting match expectations.

This week we did add a bonus stage, that if you can complete it within a specified amount of time, you will get a bonus time reduction from your overall match time.

It's going to be a great time, not to mention the award ceremony and door prizes after the match at the Ft. Sill Jack Daniels lounge and restaurant.
