I just want to be able to take my horse to the match. Is that too much to ask? What kind of country are we living when where we can't shoot stages like John Wayne? John Wayne knew about empty guns. He threw them on the ground where they belong, and drew or picked up another loaded gun and kept shooting. Like a man.

SASS is that way. --->

here it is, if it's a local match, pick up, no foul. If it's a major it's a DQ. You can drop your gun at a major and range offical will pick it up for you, after the make ready, DQ.

How about shooter is done with stage, RO gives commands, shooter unloads, shows clear, hammer's down, all good until they holster, they miss the holster and gun hits the ground. "Range is Clear" command has not and could not be given because of the failed holster attempt.

DQ?

no question on either one.
Once the "make ready" command is given & until the "range is clear" command is given, the participant is active in the course of fire. The course of fire begins at "Make Ready" & ends at "Range is Clear"

But if the shooter has a second gun on his belt, he's good to go and can finish the stage &/or pick up his gun he dropped and go about his business fam.

If I dropped one, I'd bump the RO, call interference. ..Reshoot, problem solved

Seriously though hate to dq anyone but it is part of the job. I do like giving procedurals to Micah though
