#256148 Ponca City USPSA, 3/9/2019, CANCELLED

Posted by Definitely Deplorable on 13 March 2019 - 01:05 PM

Are you a month behind?  :sarcastichand:

No the thread title says March!

Temps were forecasted to be nice on that day. I was wondering if you all relocated to northern Canada. Ha!

#255916 Beretta 90Two for Production

Posted by Definitely Deplorable on 09 December 2018 - 01:23 PM

Stoeger won production with a 92 of some kind, IIRC. I'm sure it can be done again with the right person running it. Guns don't get slower with age they just succumb to the new hotness and/or sponsor.

If it doesn't have click adjustments for elevation and windage I ain't interested.

For mine I had an older now discontinued Burris Speed Dot laying around and it works great. If I were buying an optic I'd go Venom for the weight savings.

Marijuana being a schedule 1 drug is a tremendous waste of resources.

There you go! I don't think it'll get rescheduled for recreational use, but Trump has said medical should be a go. If our law (SQ788) is structured right, and it appears that it MAY pass muster for medical, I think it could be inferred that a 4473 "NO" answer would too.

And for the record I don't use and don't plan to even if it was to become completely legal. I much prefer a 12 pack of 6 point or a pint of something wet.

I decided to buy a Shadow 2. Does that count?

#253799 Redding competition dies for pistols

Posted by Definitely Deplorable on 03 January 2018 - 09:53 AM

One thing to note about Redding is that they have their roots in benchrest and they make their dies to tight tolerances. This is both good and bad in certain instances. I had to send a .38 profile crimp die up there to be polished out a bit because it would swage down the lead bullets I was loading which are normally larger dia. It was perfect for jacketed. But they did it at no charge and had it back to me in a matter of days and I liked that the guy that was corresponding on email and phone with me is the one that actually went into the shop and did the work, so nothing lost in communication. Redding is my first choice when I'm looking for new dies.

#253798 2017 Contingency Program Discussion

No, the end date is 12/31

Last year we allowed entries through the end of Jan but the goal was to get on a calendar year.

Where's the order link for 2018?

For pistol ranges you want 6 MOA at a minimum. That goes for carbine work too at pistol ranges. For longer rifle range work it starts getting questionable. I have a couple of Burris RDS tube type sights that have 5 MOA dots and they are not really ideal for anything, but will work for about everything.

The Venom with a 6 mil dot sounds like what you are needing.

Try the Monoflex ML. Supposed to be mucho better on expansion. It's a monolithic copper polymer tipped with a ginormous cavity and looks to be shaped just like the SST.

#252841 Ruger P95 holster search

Posted by Definitely Deplorable on 15 October 2017 - 06:30 PM

Is this holster hard to find because it is an old gun or because it is a crappy gun?
It's ok to be honest, promise.

It's only crappy looking, not a crappy gun.  They are tough, reliable and accurate enough.  The P85 before it was built like a tank, I honestly don't know if anyone could wear one out.  Bill Ruger milled half the slide away and did a torture test and it passed with flying colors.  IIRC this was after it was eliminated from consideration and Beretta was picked by the DOD when they went to 9mm.

#252755 WTT: WST for WSF or 572

Posted by Definitely Deplorable on 08 October 2017 - 08:37 PM

Not liking the WST?

Oh no I like it just fine, I just need something for full house jacketed loads and have another fast powder to use in it's place.

#251132 PCC ammo?

Posted by Definitely Deplorable on 24 June 2017 - 11:07 AM

I've not tried a lot of factory ammo, but what I have shot in my PCC is hotter than I need to compete.  The lowest PF factory ammo I've found is still over 140 PF in my carbine.  Get that down to 130 or so and I'm a buyer.

True.  But if you are classed as low as I am it really doesn't matter enough to consider.  We low classed folks :o  are better off with shooting in higher quantity and the lightweight bullets give a few more rounds for the same dollars.  Gamer loads will start taking effect in the higher classifications.

#251113 PCC ammo?

If you are not reloading Academy has the Independence aluminum case stuff for .20 cents a round in the 100 count boxes.  I ran 1 box of it through the wife's Shield with no issues at all.  They also have the Remington range buckets on sale for $79.99 which works out the same as Blazer aluminum but you can reload or sell the brass.

If you are reloading jacketed bullets it's getting pretty hard to justify the time pulling the handle at these prices, I see 1000 round cases of brass cased/copper jacketed bulk everywhere for under $200 these days.  Coated lead will still beat it pretty good though.

Edit:  That Independence ammo is copper jacketed so you can shoot it at indoor ranges.  I only shoot at steel with my gun, not out of it.
