It was not necessarily a formal match by any means.

Or are you talking about the child Giovanni who needed assistance from the adults? He's a good sport, but I think he ran out of ammo for his 20ga 11-87 and ran Micah's open Saiga to finish the stage. I think Feegee's excuse is he swallowed his chew and things got psychedelic.

What was this shotgun by committee?
If you are referring to Giovanni, it kind of was shotgun by committee. Let me explain a little bit about the situation. He is my 10 year old son and like Mitch said he was running out of 20ga ammo for his 11-87. One of the other shooters let him use his gun to finish the stage. Plus we thought it would be kind of fun to do a "New York Reload" with shotguns. He is really new to shotgunning he has only shot a shot gun twice in competition and maybe only 5 or 6 times total. He has never handled a Saiga before except for maybe one practice reload over by the berm right before he shot. He did need a lot of help from the guys on the squad and they were great with him and a big help. Big thank you to all of them! I think he did pretty good with it until the gun started getting heavy for him. He also wound up with a little bruise on his shoulder from all of the shotgun shooting, which he called his "happy tattoo".

We had a lot of fun and will definitley come shoot it again and bring enough ammo when we do. I can't thank the guys on our squad enough for the help and patience you showed to a couple of newbie shot gunners.

Also, Mitch the Jeff in your video is not Jeff Hughes its me the other Jeff.

Thanks for posting the videos we enjoyed watching them.

Lol! I thought it was cool. I thought it was Luis since he posted the video. I didn't see the title on the actual video.

In the airport On my phone I don't turn on the sound and I would have never guessed that was a kid either. I turned it off after the shotgun to shotgun transition.

Send me your last name and I'll fix the video title, and maybe get rid of the profanity in the description. I'd just send you a copy but these hi-def vids are huge files.

Thanks. Anyone have any tips, advice, or constructive criticism?
The slow motion and split screen was cool!

The two things I would suggest are miss less. You simply can't afford to make up shots with a shotgun.
Second it looks like your not 110% confident in either your hits or your positions for finding targets. There appears to be some small pause when you're looking for the target and after you pull the Trigger. Better stage planned and stage markers to help hit the perfect spot maybe?

Thanks for the feedback Jesse. Missing less was my takeaway lesson from that match. Agreed with you on both the confident level of my hits and correct positions. Now that you pointed it out, I will work on footwork/steps during drills and walk through.

Honestly, I never really felt settled down until stage 9 or 10 (I started on 1); was nervous/excited the entire match. I wanted to do really well and had a goal of finishing in the top 10. Maybe it was in my head the whole time? Too much pressure on myself?

I appreciate it.

The nervous anxiousness doesn't go away for me until I crash and burn on one stage. Then I feel like I can't win and everything matters less. So I can shoot more relaxed and typically much faster and smoother. I don't recommend purposely tanking the first stage to get the bad one out of the way though.
